Earlier this week The STA Group Power List, annual ranking of the most tech-forward organizations in sport, as voted for by hundreds of industry professionals recognized Zone7 among the leading 100 and as one of only eight within the Performance category.
Now in its third year, The Power List is an annual assessment provided by The Sports Technology Awards Group, reaching across the entire sports industry, analysing organizations within 11 different categories; agencies, blockchain, broadcast, gaming, media and telecommunications, performance, rights holders, sporting goods, sports data and betting, team, and technology.
Other familiar organizations to be recognized within Performance include Strava, Hudl, Veo Technologies, and WHOOP. However, Zone7 was the only Data Science company to be listed.
Since initial publication in 2020, the method of compilation has evolved and this year hundreds of industry leaders were invited to cast their votes as to which brands should make the list and where they should rank.
The STA Group commented that “the results speak for themselves,” with Formula 1 (F1), the National Basketball Association (NBA), and the National Football League (NFL) taking the top three spots in this years list. “These brands, which would probably have been the pick of many sports fans as well as sports senior management, are world-beaters in their commitment to technology and in achieving their success – both sporting and commercial. It is apparent that innovation is something that is embedded in their culture,” they continued.
