Zone7 and Los Angeles FC (“LAFC”) have today announced a strategic partnership that will see the leading Major League Soccer team adopt Zone7’s injury risk solution within its coaching and medical departments.

“We are delighted to welcome Zone7 into LAFC’s operations and are proud to be a first-mover for data science adoption in MLS,” said Gavin Benjafield, Director of Performance. “Tal and his team have a highly successful track record and our shared commitment to keeping athletes in peak condition with the lowest possible threat of injury will drive this team towards its full potential and continued success on the field.”

The Western Conference club, which was recently named the most valuable team in MLS by Sportico, will enlist Zone7 to analyze its comprehensive collection of player data, identify undetected risk patterns, and provide practical intervention suggestions to optimize athlete performance and lower injury incident rates. LAFC already tracks an extensive array of information including in-game and training positioning, as well as biometric, strength, sleep, and stress metrics.

“We are thrilled to partner with LAFC and bring our platform to Exposition Park,” said Tal Brown, Co-Founder and CEO of Zone7. “The club’s staff are already embracing advanced technologies to monitor player movement, workload and many other factors, creating a data-rich environment which is a perfect fit for our algorithms.”

Zone7 has helped other leading soccer teams reduce injury incidence rates by as much as 50%, including current SPFL champions Rangers FC. The alliance with LAFC caps off a strong year of growth for Zone7, which also included new adoption in the English Premier League (EPL) and National Football League (NFL), early-stage use cases in the U.S. healthcare industry, and completion of a Series A round of funding to expand operations and accommodate demand.
